Tips for Managing Marketing Efforts in Multiple Locations

Tips for Managing Marketing Efforts in Multiple Locations

One of the ways a growing rental company shows success is by expanding to new and different locations. While exciting, it can also be challenging when it comes to sharing marketing strategy, collateral and projects ̶ especially when your company is working to expand into an entirely new territory or into the global market.

It’s important that your company spreads its communications to all, no matter how large your organization becomes and that gives managers a lot more work. It’s not just about the information itself, it’s important to keep some sort of team cohesion regardless of where the team is located.

Here are some tips to help you manage your rental companies marketing efforts in multiple locations:

  • Tips for Managing Marketing Efforts in Multiple LocationsSome areas of marketing should be done at the central level to guide the regions. This includes branding and brand guidelines, strategic planning and budgeting.
  • Make each location responsible for specific projects. Random collaboration with a lack of strategy causes confusion and wasted time. A centralized marketing strategy should complement what the marketing team works on at each location.
  • Take the time to research and find the right programs for your team to share files and project manage. There are so many to choose from that come in all price points ̶ if you find good tools that your team utilizes well, it adds to productivity and less wasted time.
  • Establish a set of weekly, bi-weekly or monthly meetings for your whole group to get together to sync, go over projects and ask questions. If possible, use a web cam so you can see each other. This may help with language barriers as well.
  • Be aware of cultural differences that can cause tension and miscommunication.
  • Be aware of holiday schedules and time zones differences. Meetings and deadlines may need to be adjusted by location to accommodate.
  • Know the names of other managers and leaders from different locations. It’s also a plus if you can pronounce them correctly!

Bert Martinez, founder of Bert Martinez Communications, says this: “The bottom line in managing multiple locations is to help make everyone in your company feel motivated and part of the team, regardless of where they do their work. When your people feel good and that they matter, they will perform better.”
